The school holidays are upon us once again but as always, there are plenty of great family-friendly activities on during the school holidays on the Mornington Peninsula.
Briars Spring School Holiday Program
Awaken your senses and spring into spring with nature as you explore the Briars Wildlife Sanctuary. Explore the flora and fauna in your backyard. For the little ones, it’s Get Batty and for the older kids, there’s Bat Box Building or Junior Ranger Nature Lovers. Or take a walk through the Wildlife Sanctuary and experience the bush after dark.
Enjoy pop up sports with Sphero, a robotic ball followed by a celebration of spring making origami flowers and butterflies. Try your hand at claymations – animation using clay, then attend bedtime storytime. All events at the library are free, but booking is essential.
Tell your story at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery
Tell your story about the people and places that are special to you. Use mediums like paper, cardboard and plasticine to create something to take home. Or fill your page with sketches and idea, seeing what happens when you mix and match them to create your artwork.
Royal Melbourne Show
I can’t mention the September school holidays without mentioning the Melbourne Show. This year’s special attraction is the Jurassic Creatures interactive dinosaur walk-through exhibition. After walking with the dinosaurs, say hi to the animals, go on a few rides, eat some award-winning food and come home with more show bags than you can carry!
Once the school holidays are over I’m sure all parents are preparing themselves for the next term break, which happens to be the biggest one all year!
